Here are a few links and videos that highlight some self-led learning concepts as well as the impact of the model on the students. There are also a few links to agencies and individuals whose work aligns with and supports our goals here at ASEST.

In this video, Tim Amaral is being interviewed by UN presenter and IVET founder Neil Hawkes as part of Neil's series on values-based education. The IVET foundation advocates for values-based education in schools, colleges and other settings. The same interview along with the rest of the series from Neil's podcast is the final link. The work being done at IVET is of the greatest importance and is a true game changer.
In these videos, Tim Amaral is being interviewed by Joanna Curry-Sartori as part of the IFS in Schools project. The first was done to support teachers and parents during the covid lockdown. The second was part of a panel of professionals who apply IFS principles in their educational approaches.
These videos capture some of what is happening at the Salinas Adult School in conjunction with our partners at the Salinas Valley Adult Ed. Consortium and Hartnell College. The AdulTED Talks are for educators, and the Graduates Interview is for students. On the SVAEC page, student success stories are strongly representative of the good that comes from supporting our adult learners as they try to claim the destiny that is uniquely theirs. It is truly inspirational to watch as they finish their high school equivalency, transition into a supportive college environment and then proceed on to university and eventual careers. This is what it looks like when we get it right.
In these videos, Tim is being interviewed by Mel Galbraith of IFS Canada for our collaborative project called The SELf-Led Classroom--IFS for Educators. This project takes a deeper look at the core concepts from the Internal Family Systems therapeutic model and how they can impact learning and teaching. The workshops are designed to support anyone from parents to tutors to teachers to trainers who are looking for a more compassionate and connected way to make the learning moment healthier, happier and more effective.
In these 2 interviews, therapist and podcaster John Clarke talks to Tim about how the SELf-Led model works in a classroom with students for whom the rate of complex trauma was well beyond the national average.
The interviews are an exploration of the difference between a classroom where our self-worth is reflected back to us no matter what and a classroom where we are told we have no value unless we perform and how our students always know the difference.
